Is This Right for Your Pet?
The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® Helps Pets of All Ages:
The Hip-EEZ® helps young puppies in the earliest stages of hip dysplasia up through older dogs dealing with arthritis, hip pain, and inflammation. This canine hip brace system is designed to decrease hip pain and promote mobility while helping to keep your pet comfortable and active.
The Hip-EEZ® will not help pets that cannot stand on their own and cannot bear any weight on their hind legs. These dogs may need the additional support of a dog wheelchair. Please speak with your veterinarian to determine the best treatment plan for your pet.

Some pets will take right away to this kind of dog hip support harness and others may take more time to It’s important to remember the initial fitting of the Walkin’ Hip-EEZ will take some time. Some pets will take this kind of dog hip support harness right away, and others may take more time to adjust. A slow acclimation to wearing the Hip-EEZ is essential. It may take some pets 2-4 weeks to completely adjust to walking and running when wearing the Hip-EEZ. That’s entirely normal for a full hip mobility device. Wearing the hip brace will help relieve your pet’s hip pain immediately, but it may take a few weeks to wear the Hip-EEZ before seeing noticeable physical or gait changes. We recommend using positive reinforcement (including treats and praise) to encourage your dog to walk and move while wearing our dog hip support harness.
For Best Results:
To promote healing and see visible changes in your dog’s movement, wearing the Hip-EEZ® is only one piece of your dog’s treatment plan. If your pet is suffering from any conditions affecting the hip joints which cause pain or change in mobility, working with your veterinarian on a multi-step treatment plan will always have the best outcome. Your veterinarian may recommend joint supplements, a pain management plan, structured exercise, or even seeing a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. Using our dog hip support harness to promote continued comfortable mobility along with the items listed above will allow your pet the best outcome. Customize your dog’s Hip-EEZ® to fit their treatment plan with these optional attachments:
Hip-EEZ Instructions
- First, fit your pet with their chest harness and adjust for comfort. The harness D-ring should be on top of the back.
- Place the Hip-EEZ® across your dog’s back and loosely attach the Hip-EEZ® to the chest harness by running the nylon strap through the D-ring. This will keep the hip brace in place as you adjust it.
- Adjust one leg panel at a time. Wrap the elastic leg straps around your dog’s thigh above the knee joint. Touch fastener straps wrap behind your dog’s leg and attach to the outside of the panel. When adjusted correctly, the elastic strap should point in a V shape upwards on the outside of the leg panel. Repeat on the second leg.
- Last, tighten the nylon strap connected to the chest harness to keep Hip-EEZ properly positioned.
Once both leg panels are in position, you’re ready to tighten them as necessary.
- If there is gapping or the leg panel is sitting too far below the knee, lightly detach the right and left panels and tighten across the dog’s hind end as needed.
- If the panel slides backward off the dog, tighten the strap connecting the Hip-EEZ® to the chest harness.
- Nylon strap that connects the hip brace to the front harness may not run perfectly centered along the spine and may sit off to the side.

Frequently Asked Fitting Questions:
Pet Not Walking with Hip-EEZ® on:
If your pup is hesitant to walk once their dog hip support harness is on, try making a couple of adjustments. Check the strap connecting to the chest harness isn’t too tight. Loosening this strap may make it more comfortable for your pet while keeping the panels in place.
Remember it will take time for your pet to get used to the Hip-EEZ®. Use treats and positive reinforcement to encourage them.
Gap on Top of Pelvis when secure leg panels:
Not every pet’s body type will fit perfectly with the leg panels. Try and secure the Velcro panels over the top of the pelvis tautly. If there is gapping, you can try refastening the panels. The design allows for the panels to Velcro easily together in different positions. A small gap will still allow the product to offer support. Ideally, you want to secure the brace as tightly as possible in a way that is still comfortable for your pet.

Your pet can wear the Hip-EEZ® while walking, running, sitting, and laying down. Hours of wear at a time are alright. We do recommend you remove it before bed and do not leave your pet unattended with the Hip-EEZ® on.
The Hip-EEZ is easy to clean and should be hand washed with a clean cloth or sponge. Lay flat to let the brace air dry. Machine washing is not recommended and may affect the stability of the product. We recommend using a lint roller to remove hair from side panels and touch fasteners.
During quick walks, you may still hook a leash to the D-Ring while the Hip-EEZ® is attached. However, we recommend securing your pet’s leash to another spot during longer walks.
Yes, your pet can go potty with the Hip-EEZ® on. The hip brace wraps around and over the front of a dog’s leg, leaving plenty of room for your dog to pee or poop cleanly. There should be no interference with getting business done when your dog wears their hip support.
Often when a pup is hesitant to walk when wearing a hip brace, a few minor adjustments need to be made for their comfort. Check the strap connecting to the chest harness isn’t too tight. Loosening this strap may make it more comfortable for your pet while keeping the panels in place.

For pet to benefit from wearing a hip brace, your pet must be ambulatory and able to walk. The only exception is when you use the Hip-EEZ® with the Hip Donut Attachment, designed to help down dogs with decubitus ulcer treatment and prevention.
A pet that cannot stand or requires additional support to walk, will need a Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair. A wheelchair is often used to support dogs dealing with severe hip dysplasia. Wheelchairs help to reduce the weight placed on their aching joints and help them stay active.
If your pet falls between two sizes, we recommend selecting the correct size based on your dog’s weight. Need help? Call us at 888-253-0777; our Customer Care team is happy to help your dog get the perfect size Hip-EEZ®.
Professional Use
The Hip-EEZ® Full Support system is specially designed based on inspiration from Canine Rehabilitation cases that needed something more. Hip Dysplasia is the “mother of all orthopedic diseases”. Joint and pain management play a very large role in the needs of these pets. I designed this product to provide more support and compression to the hip joint while allowing movement.
