What Makes the SureFit® Calculator the Best Choice?

SureFit® Guarantee: we guarantee the perfect size, or we’ll pay your return shipping costs if an exchange is needed. That way there’s no doubt your pet will get the perfect fit.

We highly recommend using our SureFit® Calculator as it ensures the perfect custom fit for your pet. It requires a couple measurements, but only so we can provide your pet with the very best experience.

We recognize this takes a few minutes of your time, but those minutes are worth the happiness your pet will experience once they try out their wheelchair for the first time. Our wheelchairs have already helped more than 81,000 other pets. Let’s make that 81,001!

Other companies simply have you select a wheelchair based on weight, but that often results in a poor fit. Why? A 30 lb bulldog has a very different body type from a 30 lb corgi, but those companies will provide both with the same wheelchair.

  1. Unbend the halo to form a horseshoe shape. Halo should still have 90° bend.
  2. Adjust the harness/vest to fit snugly on the dog.
  3. Take the halo side that is not attached and slide the clip into the harness/vest.
  4. Put the screws back in on each side of harness/vest clip.
  5. Halo should encircle the dog’s head at forehead level and extend beyond tip of dog’s nose. Adjust halo so that it is parallel to the ground when on dog.
  1. Unbend the halo to form a horseshoe shape.
  2. Locate three side pockets, these pockets help to stabilize the halo keeping it securely supported and in place.
  3. Insert halo wire end through Pocket 1
  4. Continue to slide Halo wire through Pocket 2
  5. Remove webbing from the elastic, keep and slide Halo wire through Pocket 3
  6. Secure and lock the halo in position with the black Halo Clip
  7. Take plastic Halo Clip (side labeled Front should face outward and point towards dog’s head) and position it over the halo wire end. Then snap the clip into place to secure the halo. You will hear a click when the halo clip is snapped together correctly.
  8. Next repeat steps 2-6 on the other side.
  9. Adjust the harness to fit snugly on dog. The halo should run parallel to the ground when on the dog. A 90-degree bend may be added to the halo if needed.

How to Adjust the Halo Different anatomies of dogs make it possible that your halo may extend too far. If this is the case for your dog, bend the halo as in this photo to bring it closer to your dog’s nose and head.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you introduce the Halo to a pet?

Take it slow, blind pets rely heavily on their other senses and it may take your pet time to adjust to something new. Introduce the halo slowly to avoid startling your pet. Introduce harness alone, before attaching halo. Make wearing the halo a positive experience by using lots of praise and treats.

How do I choose the right size Halo for my pet?

If your dog is under 30 lbs., they will need the vest style harness designed for small breed dogs (black vest). Dogs weighing over 30 lbs. will require the larger harness (blue harness) designed for medium to large breed dogs. Still not sure what size to choose? Call our Customer Care Team at 888-253-0777, we would be happy to help answer any fitting questions.

Is the halo only for inside use? Or can my dog wear it outside in my yard?

Whether inside the house or exploring the outdoors, the Blind Dog Halo will help your dog become more confident with his or her surroundings. The Halo helps to prevent painful bumps from running into walls, furniture, and other obstacles. The Blind Dog Halo can be used anywhere your sight-impaired pet may run the risk of bumping into objects.

Is the Halo too big if it touches the ground while my dog sniffs around?

Not at all, when your dog brings their nose to the ground the halo will follow their body movement, the halo will follow your dog’s nose!

Can my dog sleep in the halo?

The halo is certainly comfy enough to be worn when your dog is resting and will not restrict your dog from laying down and doing their normal activities. But we recommend taking it off when your dog goes to sleep to let their skin breathe.

Can my dog wear their halo when they are home alone?

We always recommend your pup only use the product while under supervision.

Can cats use the Blind Dog Halo?

Yes, the halo can be used for dogs or cats! Blind cats can also benefit from using a halo to avoid bumping into objects.

Can my dog eat while wearing the halo?

Yes! As long as, their bowl is far enough away from any solid objects the halo will not impede your dog from eating as normal. A 90-degree bend can be added to your dog’s halo if you need to shorten or adjust where the halo sits on your dog.

Is the Blind Dog Halo compatible with my dog’s Walkin’ Wheels?

Yes, the Blind Dog Halo can be worn while your dog is in their Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair, but it is not compatible to be attached and used as a harness for their wheelchair.
