Is This Right for your Pet?
How do I know if this will help my pet?
If your pet has weakness in their hind end, and is dragging their toes or knuckling in any way the Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock can help them to learn how to properly pick up their feet higher. We ALWAYS recommend consulting with your Veterinarian or Rehabilitation professional before using. Many geriatric pets or those suffering from neurological problems can benefit from using the No-Knuckling Training Sock.
The Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock:
The Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock is designed to help retrain pets that A.) have suffered from a neurological condition. This causes them to drag the Rear paws. B.) Older animals are weaker in the hind end. All can be tied together with a disorder in their spine, or arthritis in the spine that creates weakness on top of the knuckling. The Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock stimulates the nerve endings in between the toes. Invoking a withdrawal reflex that causes the pet to pick up their toes. Rehab Expert Renee Mills designed the Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock for use by Veterinarians, and rehabs but also for at home use by the customer so they can continue their rehab at home, under the advice of their pet’s vet or rehab specialist.
What to Expect:
The Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock is designed to assist pet parents and Vets/Rehabs alike comfortably and safely continue exercising and retraining a pet’s nerve endings to assist in picking up the foot properly. This is not an immediate fix and should be just a STARTING point in your pet’s rehabilitation. It should be thought of as a piece of the puzzle, and not the only solution. As every pet is different in diagnosis and personality the amount of time it will take to see improvement can vary. When initially placed on your pet you will see an immediate improvement. But this is only to be worn a few times a day and up to 2 to 5 minutes at a time each use. When you take it off you may see the paw revert back to dragging/knuckling. Over time you should see this change and you should see your pets’ awareness of how they are placing their paw increase. Working under your Vet/Rehabs advice will help to ensure a smoother transition into use. If being supervised by a Vet or Rehab specialist, they may be able to advise you of further exercises that can be done to help ensure the paw is being retrained properly.
For Best Results:
We recommend you use this temporary training tool during multiple walks for two to five minute intervals on one lower hind leg at a time. Proper Placement and Fit for the No-Knuckling Training Sock
STEP 1

Spread open the No-Knuckling Training Sock (NKTS), attaching each strap to itself while keeping it open. Then wrap the NKTS around hock joint on lower hind leg. Be sure to keep cord loop free and positioned on front of leg.
STEP 2

Keeping cord loop free and over straps, secure touch fastener straps, starting with the bottom. Then secure top strap. Finally, if there is a third strap, tighten it last, below the hock joint.
STEP 3

Wrap fleece pad around toe portion of cord loop. This will add extra padding between cord and toes. Keep soft fleece closest to dog’s paw, touch fastener should face the ground.
STEP 4

Place cord loop around and under middle two toes.
STEP 5

Pull slowly at top of cord to tighten. Then test your dog’s reaction. If there is no reaction, gradually tighten more and test again.
Important:
- Do not wrap the NKTS too tightly, as that may interfere with circulation or limit the mobility of the leg.
- Do not tighten the cord to the point where it could cause irritation or pull the toes up too far.
- Do not leave the NKTS on your pet for extended periods of time. It’s designed to be a short-term training tool. NKTS should be used for 2-5 minute intervals at the beginning of the walk and removed. Misuse or extended wear beyond manufacturing recommendations may lead to injury of the paw.
- Softest part of the fleece pad should always be touching the pet’s skin, with a touch fastener edge pointing away from the pet’s paw.
- Placement of any brace, wrap or support on your pet may cause them to kick leg or paw trying to remove product.
- Do not leave the NKTS on a pet unattended.
Note: It is best to use the NKTS at the beginning of a walk for best results. Straps are intentionally left long so that they provide the right amount of support above and below the hock joint where the support is needed. The hock joint is intentionally left exposed so that there is no undue pressure on the joint itself.
Professionals Guide to the Rear No-Knuckling Training Sock
The Rear No-Knuckling Sock is designed to enhance proprioception in patients with neurological deficits. The sensory stimulation acts as a reminder for pets to lift their limbs higher. It can be utilized as a gait retraining tool. The lightweight nature of the neoprene is designed to target patients with limb weakness.
This product may be used by rehabilitation professionals as part of a treatment plan. Pet owners can also be instructed to use it for at-home training sessions. There are numerous ways to incorporate the use of the No-Knuckling Training Sock into your practice.
Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
No-Knuckling Training Sock Walks: Apply socks to affected limbs and have patients walk slowly for two to five minutes. If deficits are bilateral, apply to only one leg at a time to begin. You may progress to longer walks or using both hind legs at the same time once the patient is ready for this increase.
Enhanced Cavaletti Poles: Apply socks to affected limbs during the Cavaletti poles exercise. If a patient is still hitting bars, this will add an extra reminder to pick that foot up.
Enhanced Figure 8s or Cone Weaving: Apply socks to affected limbs during more difficult walking exercises. This will assist in correct paw placement as you advance your workouts.
Treadmill Patterning: Apply socks to affected limbs. This will greatly enhance any patterning exercise using land or underwater treadmill. Time of use and progression during this exercise is at the professional’s discretion. If used in the underwater treadmill, be certain to remove after workout and let sock air-dry before next use.

Product Reviews
Holy Cow, These Really Work!
My senior collie has been rolling and scuffing her feet to the point that they bleed, and I’d been putting no-slip dog socks on her. The socks have kept her from bleeding, but they’ve gotten filthy and shredded and lost. The Rear No-Knuckling Training Socks are an absolute godsend. Suddenly she’s holding her feet properly again, and she’s falling down a lot less because her whole posture is better. She seems genuinely happier, too. She’s walking again, instead of staggering.
-Ann Smiley
LCPD Doesn’t Stop this Girl!
I tried this sock and within the first couple of walks, we made more progress than six sessions of underwater therapy. I’m blown away at how good she’s doing and so are the vet and rehab specialist. I got her an extra small and it fit perfectly
-Katrina

Both paws, No more Knuckling!
Boomer has used these knuckling socks for about a week now on both back legs and noticed improvement after about 3-4 days. He gets around in them very comfortably and without knuckling, and we do believe they are re-training his foot position.
-S. Kienitz
Beating the Odds with No-Knuckling Training Sock!
After using the No-Knuckling Training Sock on and off for about 10 days, she no longer needs it! She’s perked up and is happy again! Thank you for extending the time I have left with my Rajah.

This Product has been AMAZING!
Recently Rupert suffered a Fibrocartilaginous Embolism, steroids and daily muscle therapy helped a lot, but he still couldn’t walk without his paw turning under. Not only does it work exactly as it’s supposed to, but it has helped train his foot to not turn under anymore!

No-Knuckling Training Sock is light and adjustable!
The No-Knuckling Training Sock is light and adjustable. Most of the other similar devices are heavier and need to be custom-fitted which presents a distinct disadvantage. The No-Knuckling Training Sock represents a great improvement.

Great for Rehabilitation Patients
The No-Knuckling Training Sock has been very helpful for many of my rehabilitation patients. It is very lightweight and easy to put on. Also, I’m impressed with how comfortable it is. Dogs can wear it during numerous exercises or walks around the neighborhood and don’t seem bothered by it at all.
–Robin Price, RVT, CCRP
Walking again after FCE!
I’ve tried other similar products, but because of their weight, it only made the dragging worse. The No-Knuckling Training Sock is very lightweight and fits him perfectly. Even with an abnormal gait, the Training Sock stayed in place and didn’t move around.
