What Makes the SureFit® Calculator the Best Choice?
SureFit® Guarantee: we guarantee the perfect size, or we’ll pay your return shipping costs if an exchange is needed. That way there’s no doubt your pet will get the perfect fit.
We highly recommend using our SureFit® Calculator as it ensures the perfect custom fit for your pet. It requires a couple measurements, but only so we can provide your pet with the very best experience.
We recognize this takes a few minutes of your time, but those minutes are worth the happiness your pet will experience once they try out their wheelchair for the first time. Our wheelchairs have already helped more than 81,000 other pets. Let’s make that 81,001!
Other companies simply have you select a wheelchair based on weight, but that often results in a poor fit. Why? A 30 lb bulldog has a very different body type from a 30 lb corgi, but those companies will provide both with the same wheelchair.
At Walkin’ Pets, we strive to deliver the highest quality products for your pets. We understand that having an elderly, disabled or handicapped pet comes with many unknowns. We want to help make things as easy as possible. We accept returns and exchanges for all our products within 30 days of receiving them in like new condition with all parts and pieces included.
If you discover a problem after you've accepted delivery of an item, contact us. We may be able to resolve the problem without requiring you to return the item.
Some exclusions apply. Free shipping on orders over $49 will be automatically applied at checkout for delivery within the continental US only. How to Choose the Right Size
The weight of the dog on the sizing guide is for reference only. Every dog is shaped differently, and we recommend using the length measurement as your primary measurement.
When measuring, start at the base of the rib cage. When lying down, every dog positions their legs differently, which can change the size of the scooter your pet needs. Pets that extend their back legs behind them as they drag measure all the way to the tips of their toes. For pets that sit on their hind legs as they scoot, measure to the end of the rump.

Is the Walkin’ Scooter Right for My Pet?
The Walkin Scooter Helps Disabled Pets Stay Active!
The Walkin’ Pet Scooter gives your best friend the happy, healthy life they deserve. The Scooter is designed to help pets with no use of their back legs and drag their hind end around in the home when they are not using a pet wheelchair or other mobility device. The scooter helps keep paralyzed pets active, allowing them to glide around the house on wheels instead of dragging, and will enable them to play and enjoy quality time with the family!
The Walkin’ Scooter is not intended for pets who can still walk but have rear-end weakness. For pets who can still stand and walk with their back legs, we recommend the Walkin’ Wheels as it can give them similar independence to the Scooter but allow them to exercise their back legs and can also be used outdoors.
The Scooter is explicitly designed to help protect pets with rear leg paralysis, who either drag or scoot themselves across the floor. If your pet lifts their hind end entirely off the ground when moving throughout your home, we would recommend either the Walkin’ Wheels or our Walkin’ Drag Bag, as every time they lift their rear ends, they would raise the Scooter base with them.
What to Expect:
The Walkin’ Scooter is designed specifically to assist paralyzed dogs and cats move throughout the house comfortably. Your pet’s scooter will allow them to move throughout the house independently and freely without the worry of them injuring themselves from dragging their rear end on the ground.
We recommend introducing it slowly and using a lot of positive reinforcement, whether that is treats or praise. Because of the Scooter’s design, your pet will be able to sit and lie down while in it, meaning you can leave your pet in the Scooter for extended periods without having to worry about removing them from it to rest. With that in mind, we recommend supervision while your pet is in their Scooter, as there is always the possibility that the scooter can get stuck on or under a piece of furniture, doorway, or similar obstruction. If you would like to leave your pet in the Scooter unsupervised, we suggest waiting a bit as, over time, you and your pet will get to know the limitations of the scooter and be able to judge this based on the individual circumstances. Also, please note that while the Scooter is great for incontinent pets using a diaper or male wrap, hygiene needs to be maintained to keep your pet healthy, comfortable, and dry in the Scooter.
For Best Results:
Whether your pet is newly paralyzed or has been so for a while, the Walkin Scooter is designed to assist them in staying active throughout the house and help them keep up with you. Their situation, whether new or old, can be something that causes more anxiety and can make new items and experiences scary. Therefore, slowly introducing your pet to the Walkin’ Scooter is important. A slow introduction will help your dog to become comfortable and create a positive association with its new Scooter. This, in turn, will make it even easier for you to help get them into the Scooter and help them gain confidence in themselves while using it.

For help assembling the Walkin’ Scooter, putting your dog into it, making adjustments, or getting your dog used to it, here are a variety of resources:
Yes, dogs can lie down while using the Scooter. Each scooter features a low profile to allow your pet to lay down and rest when they need to.
Because their back end is slightly raised, some pets may not find this comfortable and prefer to sit on the scooter. For most dogs laying down is not an issue.
How long can my pet stay in the Scooter?
The Scooter is comfortably padded, and the Scooter bag has a screened panel for air, so leaving the dog in the scooter for longer periods is no problem. If the dog is incontinent, hygiene needs to be maintained, even if the dog is wearing a diaper. For the pet’s comfort, paralyzed and incontinent pets should never lay in one position for too long. Pets should always be supervised when using any mobility device.
Can my pet use their Scooter outside?
We recommend the Scooter for indoor use and to help your pet easily maneuver indoor obstacles. The Scooter is designed to be gentle on your walls, baseboards, and flooring. The Scooter’s special rollerball casters will move quickly across hardwood flooring, tile, linoleum, and Berber carpeting. With its low profile, the Scooter may catch on roots, stones, and other outdoor obstacles. For your pet’s safety, the Scooter should be used inside.
Most pets are very comfortable in the Scooter and can wear it for extended periods without issue. However, there is always the possibility that the scooter can get stuck on or under a piece of furniture, doorway, or similar obstruction, so we do not recommend leaving the dog unattended for long periods. You and your dog will get to know the limitations of the scooter and be able to judge this based on individual circumstances. We recommend that your pet be supervised when using any mobility device.
Does my pet need the Walkin’ Wheels Wheelchair, or the Walkin’ Scooter?
Deciding which product is right for your paralyzed pet can be tricky. If your dog is paralyzed in the rear, both the Walkin’ Wheels Wheelchair and the Walkin’ Scooter are great options. While the Wheelchair is perfect for use outside, to assist with going on walks and exploration. The Walkin’ Scooter is ideal for helping your pet move throughout the house easily.

Both the Medium and the Medium/Large scooter come with a medium-sized scooter bag, the difference between the two is in the size of the scooter base. The Scooter base comes in two different sizes. Our Pets Deserve the Same Level of Care As People Do
For the longest time, petcare products haven’t been made with the highest quality materials and components, and they haven’t included all the necessary features.
That is until Walkin’ Pets started developing petcare products that rival similar products used for people.
Before we opened our doors in 2001, it seemed like our pets weren’t treated like members of the family when it came to medical care products. Pet owners had no other option but to use whatever contraptions they could find online, or in the worst cases, put their beloved furry or feathered family member to sleep.
We knew there had to be a better way.
To All Pet Lovers and Caretakers,
There was a day when injured or special needs pets were “no good anymore.” When an animal was hurt, became lame or incontinent, or was for any reason no longer wanted, they were put down.
Not Anymore.
We are becoming more aware of the sacredness of all life. We are beginning to understand the power of the loving bond that is created when one living thing cares for another.
Our pets have become family members and deserve to be loved, respected, and cherished. The purpose and mission of Walkin’ Pets is to help people learn that there are alternatives to euthanasia. An elderly, disabled, or injured pet can often live a high quality life for many years if they get the little help that they need, such as diapers, a rear-support leash, or a wheelchair.
I created this company in the memory of a Keeshond, Mercedes. She was put to sleep at a vet’s advice after being diagnosed with a mild form of canine epilepsy. Years later, a dear friend was diagnosed with a mild form of epilepsy for which she takes a pill now and then to completely eliminate all symptoms.
The disparity between the two reactions to the same disease was unacceptable. I created this company to give caretakers the information and products they need to make the difficult, loving decisions that face them.
This website is filled with stories of hope and healing, as well as the products, services, and support that a caretaker of a disabled or aging pet needs.
The most common reaction we get from people when they hear about what our company offers is, “If only I had known about you before I put my dog to sleep.” We need to reach people. We need to tell them that there are alternatives.
Best Regards,
Mark C. Robinson

When It Comes to the Health of Your Pet, Quality. Matters. Most.
We didn’t cut any corners. Helping your pet live a longer, happier, more mobile life is our singular focus.
Product quality is incredibly important to us, throughout the manufacturing process there are several quality checks along the way. We do initial product inspections at the manufacturer to ensure that our products meet all of our quality standards. We inspect everything by hand.
Once the products arrive in our warehouse, there is another phase of inspection, where our specially trained team inspects our products again.
If they don’t meet our quality standards, we don’t sell them
We want you to rest assured that your pet will be in good hands, and that you can give them the gift of a longer, happier, more mobile life by your side.
Is our stance on quality clear?
