What Makes the SureFit® Calculator the Best Choice?

SureFit® Guarantee: we guarantee the perfect size, or we’ll pay your return shipping costs if an exchange is needed. That way there’s no doubt your pet will get the perfect fit.

We highly recommend using our SureFit® Calculator as it ensures the perfect custom fit for your pet. It requires a couple measurements, but only so we can provide your pet with the very best experience.

We recognize this takes a few minutes of your time, but those minutes are worth the happiness your pet will experience once they try out their wheelchair for the first time. Our wheelchairs have already helped more than 81,000 other pets. Let’s make that 81,001!

Other companies simply have you select a wheelchair based on weight, but that often results in a poor fit. Why? A 30 lb bulldog has a very different body type from a 30 lb corgi, but those companies will provide both with the same wheelchair.

dog hip brace

Product Details

The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® with the Hip Donut work together for a simple, non-surgical method to treat and prevent pressure sores in dogs. Pets who are ‘down’ and have hip weakness, whether, from mobility loss, arthritis, or old age spend extended periods of time lying down, leaving them prone to painful sores or ulcers. The Hip Donut alleviates pressure and eliminates weight from being distributed directly onto the joint and surrounding areas when a pet is laying down.

  • Promote Healing: Donut allows body weight to be displaced away from the sore allowing it to heal
  • Stays in Place: Hip Donut attaches to the inside of brace to stay securely in place
  • Creates a cushioned barrier between your dog’s hip joint and the hard floor.
  • Walkin’ Hip-EEZ with Donut includes: 1 Hip-EEZ System and 1 Hip Donut Attachment

How to Choose the Right Size

To determine the best size Hip-EEZ® for your pet, please measure your dog in a natural standing position and measure from 1” above the right stifle (knee) to the middle of the back. If in-between sizes, please select the size based on your dog’s weight range.

Hip-EEZ® Measurement Guide:

Once you’ve measured, reference our chart below. Find the measurement and weight range that best matches your pet. If you’re in between sizes, it’s better to select the weight range closest to your pet. Remember, your pet’s measurement may not be an exact match to the chart.

Is This Right for Your Pet?

The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® Helps Pets of All Ages:
The Hip-EEZ® helps young puppies in the earliest stages of hip dysplasia through older dogs dealing with arthritis, hip pain, and inflammation. The hip brace is designed to decrease hip pain and promote mobility while helping to keep your pet comfortable and active.

The Hip-EEZ® Bridge may not work for all pets. It may take months of wear along with regular exercise structured by Veterinary or Rehab Professional. It’s important to know the Hip-EEZ® Bridge is a tool to aid in the treatment of mild to moderate Hip-Subluxation injuries. It will not cure hip injuries on its own. Working with your Veterinarian and Veterinary Rehabilitation Professional is key to using the Hip-EEZ® Bridge in a conservative management approach to any injury.

The Hip-EEZ® will not help pets that can not stand on their own and can not bear any weight on their hind legs. These dogs may need the additional support of a dog wheelchair. Please speak with your Veterinarian to determine the best treatment plan for your pet.

What to Expect:
It’s important to remember the initial fitting of the Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® will take some time. Some pets will take right away to the mobility aide and others may take more time to adjust. A slow acclamation to wearing the Hip-EEZ® is important. It may take some pets 2-4 weeks to completely be adjusted to walk and run when wearing the Hip-EEZ®. That’s completely normal for a full hip mobility device. Wearing the hip brace will help relieve your pet’s hip pain right away, but it may take a few weeks wearing the Hip-EEZ® before you see noticeable physical or gait changes. We recommend using positive reinforcement (including treats and praise) to encourage your dog to walk and move while wearing hip support.

For Best Results:
To promote healing and see visible changes in your dog’s movement, wearing the Hip-EEZ® is only one piece of your dog’s treatment plan. If your pet is suffering from any conditions affecting the hip joints which cause pain or change in mobility, working with your Veterinarian on a multi-modal treatment plan approach will always have the best outcome. Your Veterinarian may recommend joint supplements, pain management plan, structured exercise or even seeing a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. Using the Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® to promote continued comfortable mobility along with the items listed above will allow your pet the best outcome. Discuss what plan works best for your pet with your Veterinary Professional today.

Product Instructions

  1. Make sure your Hip-EEZ® Full Support system is adjusted to best fit your pet.
  2. Gently undo touch fastener at top of leg panel on the side you’re planning on using the Hip Donut. With the Velcro facing out, line up the Hip-EEZ® Donut directly over the center of your dog’s hip joint (the bony part of the hip). Hold donut in place with one hand while pulling the leg panel taught and reattaching to the rest of Hip-EEZ® support system. Then remove hand from donut and gently press on outside of leg panel all around donut to finish securing.
  3. The Hip Donut should be in place over the joint and your leg panels secured. If you need to reposition the donut, take your time, and get it set correctly.

Tip: For open pressure sore wounds, an idoban drape can be used to create a barrier between the open wound and the Hip Donut.

Removing the Hip-EEZ® Donut
Simply detach the Hip-EEZ® Donut from leg panel once whole system is removed from pet.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Spot clean Hip-EEZ® Donut with damp cloth or sponge. Lay flat to let air dry. Machine washing not recommended and may affect the stability of product. To remove hair from foam and touch fastener, we recommend using a lint roller.

Professional Use

The Hip-EEZ® Donut is specially designed to aid in the treatment and/or prevention of pressure sores. Over the years I know we’ve all struggled with finding a donut solution that will stay in place to help these patients. From firsthand experience, I know how devastating pressure sores can be to an elderly pet. So, I designed the Hip Donut to stay in place and be easy to use. I do recommend using an Idoban drape with patients that have open wounds. This will help keep the area sterile and prevent the medical grade foam from rubbing on new developing skin.

As with any new product, continuing to collect data and feedback from professionals is key. Working together as a Veterinary community to create, provide and improve products that aide in healing our patients. I can only hope these products are able to help your patients as well. Please reach out to us and share your thoughts and help us continue to collect more case studies on using the Hip-EEZ® Donut with the Hip-EEZ® systems. We want your help in making sure our products meet the needs and approval of our fellow pet lovers.
