What Makes the SureFit® Calculator the Best Choice?
SureFit® Guarantee: we guarantee the perfect size, or we’ll pay your return shipping costs if an exchange is needed. That way there’s no doubt your pet will get the perfect fit.
We highly recommend using our SureFit® Calculator as it ensures the perfect custom fit for your pet. It requires a couple measurements, but only so we can provide your pet with the very best experience.
We recognize this takes a few minutes of your time, but those minutes are worth the happiness your pet will experience once they try out their wheelchair for the first time. Our wheelchairs have already helped more than 81,000 other pets. Let’s make that 81,001!
Other companies simply have you select a wheelchair based on weight, but that often results in a poor fit. Why? A 30 lb bulldog has a very different body type from a 30 lb corgi, but those companies will provide both with the same wheelchair.
At Walkin’ Pets, we strive to deliver the highest quality products for your pets. We understand that having an elderly, disabled or handicapped pet comes with many unknowns. We want to help make things as easy as possible. We accept returns and exchanges for all our products within 30 days of receiving them in like new condition with all parts and pieces included.
If you discover a problem after you've accepted delivery of an item, contact us. We may be able to resolve the problem without requiring you to return the item.
Some exclusions apply. Free shipping on orders over $49 will be automatically applied at checkout for delivery within the continental US only. International shipping rates and shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico will be calculated based on order’s size, weight, and final destination. Oversized and drop ship products such as: Pet Steps and Pet Ramps are not included.
The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® with Cross-Assist training tool helps prevent the crossing of a dog’s back legs. The Cross-Assist sits high up between a pet’s rear legs, attaching securely to the outside of the Hip-EEZ® panels to provide a barrier between the upper thighs to prevent hind-leg crossing. The Cross-Assist enhances rehab exercises and helps pets regain their strength while teaching them how to keep their back legs from crossing when walking and standing.

How to Choose the Right Size
To determine the best size Hip-EEZ® for your pet, please measure your dog in a natural standing position and measure from 1″ above the right stifle (knee) to the middle of the back. If in-between sizes, please select the size based on your dog’s weight range.
Hip-EEZ® Measurement Guide:
Once you’ve measured, reference our chart below. Find the measurement and weight range that best matches your pet. If you’re in between sizes, it’s better to select the weight range closest to your pet. Remember, your pet’s measurement may not be an exact match to the chart.

Is This Right for Your Pet?
The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® Helps Pets of All Ages: The Hip-EEZ® helps young puppies in the earliest stages of hip dysplasia through older dogs dealing with arthritis, hip pain, and inflammation. The hip brace is designed to decrease hip pain and promote mobility while helping to keep your pet comfortable and active.
The Cross-Assist attachment is designed to enhance your dog’s rehabilitation and strength training exercises. Training them how to walk and stand on their own without crossing their back legs. For best results, you should work closely with your Veterinary Professional to create a treatment plan that will work best for your dog.
The Hip-EEZ® will not help pets that can not stand on their own and can not bear any weight on their hind legs. These dogs may need the additional support of a dog wheelchair. Please speak with your veterinarian to determine the best treatment plan for your pet.
What to Expect: It’s important to remember the initial fitting of the Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® will take some time. Some pets will take right away to the mobility aide and others may take more time to adjust. A slow acclimation to wearing the Hip-EEZ® is important. It may take some pets 2-4 weeks to completely be adjusted to walk and run when wearing the Hip-EEZ®. That’s completely normal for a full hip mobility device. Wearing the hip brace will help relieve your pet’s hip pain right away, but it may take a few weeks wearing the Hip-EEZ® before you see noticeable physical or gait changes. We recommend using positive reinforcement (including treats and praise) to encourage your dog to walk and move while wearing hip support.
For Best Results: To promote healing and see visible changes in your dog’s movement, wearing the Hip-EEZ® is only one piece of your dog’s treatment plan. If your pet is suffering from any conditions affecting the hip joints which cause pain or change in mobility, working with your Veterinarian on a multi-modal treatment plan approach will always have the best outcome. Your Veterinarian may recommend joint supplements, pain management plan, structured exercise or even seeing a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. Using the Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® to promote continued comfortable mobility along with the items listed above will allow your pet the best outcome. Discuss what plan works best for your pet with your Veterinary Professional today.
Product Instructions
Make sure your Hip-EEZ® Full Support system is adjusted to best fit your pet.
Before you attach the Cross-Assist measure the width between your pet’s inner thighs. Subtract ½” from this measurement – this is the correct length that the foam cylinder insert should be cut to.
Remove foam insert from pouch and cut to desired length. Open the buttons of the pouch and place the foam insert in the middle of the pouch.
Secure center button on pouch. Then hold both ends of the pouch over circle ends and compress the fabric on each end towards the cylinder. This should fold the excess fabric inwards like an accordion on both ends.
Button stretchy straps on either end to secure the excess fabric in place.
Test the fit of the Cross-Assist – it should comfortably sit high up between your dog’s thighs with ¼” – ½” of space between your dog’s legs and the Cross-Assist.
Attach Cross-Assist (buttons facing down), use one hand to keep Cross-Assist in place while securing touch fasteners to outer leg panel with the other. It’s best to wrap leg straps around the outside of the leg in an upward V motion to secure.
Now your dog is ready to go!
Tip: It may take a bit of time for your pet to get used to. Slow and steady walking is key when using the Cross-Assist.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Cross-Assist work?
The Hip-EEZ® Cross-Assist provides a barrier between your pet’s inner thighs that sets the tone for the rest of the leg, encouraging your pet not to cross their hind legs.
How long can my pet wear the Cross-Assist?
The Cross-Assist should be worn only for walks or as directed by your Veterinary professional. It should be removed when done.
How do I care for the Cross-Assist?
Remove foam cylinder for cleaning. The foam cylinder is spot clean only with a damp cloth using mild detergent. Rinse well and lay flat to air dry. Button and secure all Velcro straps to themselves before washing. Machine wash on a delicate cycle without the foam. Low or no heat to dry. To remove hair from foam and Velcro, we recommend using a lint roller.
Can my pet go to the bathroom with the Cross-Assist on?
Yes, your pet can go potty with the Hip-EEZ® Donut on. There should be no interference with getting business done.
Professional Use
The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® Cross-Assist attachment is specially designed as a training tool for those patients who are crossing their hind legs. Of course, hind end weakness and hind leg crossing are two peas in a pod, so the Cross-Assist is lightweight. Think of it as the opposite of hobbles. You can use it during land treadmill work, walks, balance and strengthening exercises. You can even use it in the underwater treadmill. Just give it plenty of time to dry out.
Over the years I’ve personally struggled when trying to pattern a large dog’s hind legs while keeping them apart at the same time. I tried all kinds of methods from rolled towels to therapy stands with the pet’s legs gently secured apart. Nothing stayed in place. So, I designed the Hip-EEZ® Cross-Assist for professionals and easy enough for pet owners to use on walks at home.
As with any new product, continuing to collect data and feedback from professionals is key. Working together as a Veterinary community to create, provide and improve products that aid in healing our patients is important. I can only hope these products are able to help your patients as well. Please reach out to us and share your thoughts and help us continue to collect more case studies on using the Hip-EEZ® Cross-Assist attachment with the Hip-EEZ® Full Support system. We want your help in making sure our products meet the needs and approval of our fellow pet lovers.

Our Pets Deserve the Same Level of Care As People Do
For the longest time, petcare products haven’t been made with the highest quality materials and components, and they haven’t included all the necessary features.
That is until Walkin’ Pets started developing petcare products that rival similar products used for people.
Before we opened our doors in 2001, it seemed like our pets weren’t treated like members of the family when it came to medical care products. Pet owners had no other option but to use whatever contraptions they could find online, or in the worst cases, put their beloved furry or feathered family member to sleep.
We knew there had to be a better way.
To All Pet Lovers and Caretakers,
There was a day when injured or special needs pets were “no good anymore.” When an animal was hurt, became lame or incontinent, or was for any reason no longer wanted, they were put down.
Not Anymore.
We are becoming more aware of the sacredness of all life. We are beginning to understand the power of the loving bond that is created when one living thing cares for another.
Our pets have become family members and deserve to be loved, respected, and cherished. The purpose and mission of Walkin’ Pets is to help people learn that there are alternatives to euthanasia. An elderly, disabled, or injured pet can often live a high quality life for many years if they get the little help that they need, such as diapers, a rear-support leash, or a wheelchair.
I created this company in the memory of a Keeshond, Mercedes. She was put to sleep at a vet’s advice after being diagnosed with a mild form of canine epilepsy. Years later, a dear friend was diagnosed with a mild form of epilepsy for which she takes a pill now and then to completely eliminate all symptoms.
The disparity between the two reactions to the same disease was unacceptable. I created this company to give caretakers the information and products they need to make the difficult, loving decisions that face them.
This website is filled with stories of hope and healing, as well as the products, services, and support that a caretaker of a disabled or aging pet needs.
The most common reaction we get from people when they hear about what our company offers is, “If only I had known about you before I put my dog to sleep.” We need to reach people. We need to tell them that there are alternatives.
Best Regards,
Mark C. Robinson

When It Comes to the Health of Your Pet, Quality. Matters. Most.
We didn’t cut any corners. Helping your pet live a longer, happier, more mobile life is our singular focus.
Product quality is incredibly important to us, throughout the manufacturing process there are several quality checks along the way. We do initial product inspections at the manufacturer to ensure that our products meet all of our quality standards. We inspect everything by hand.
Once the products arrive in our warehouse, there is another phase of inspection, where our specially trained team inspects our products again.
If they don’t meet our quality standards, we don’t sell them
We want you to rest assured that your pet will be in good hands, and that you can give them the gift of a longer, happier, more mobile life by your side.
Is our stance on quality clear?
