What Makes the SureFit® Calculator the Best Choice?

SureFit® Guarantee: we guarantee the perfect size, or we’ll pay your return shipping costs if an exchange is needed. That way there’s no doubt your pet will get the perfect fit.

We highly recommend using our SureFit® Calculator as it ensures the perfect custom fit for your pet. It requires a couple measurements, but only so we can provide your pet with the very best experience.

We recognize this takes a few minutes of your time, but those minutes are worth the happiness your pet will experience once they try out their wheelchair for the first time. Our wheelchairs have already helped more than 81,000 other pets. Let’s make that 81,001!

Other companies simply have you select a wheelchair based on weight, but that often results in a poor fit. Why? A 30 lb bulldog has a very different body type from a 30 lb corgi, but those companies will provide both with the same wheelchair.

How to Choose the Right Size

To determine the best size Hip-EEZ® for your pet, please measure your dog in a natural standing position and measure from 1” above the right stifle (knee) to the middle of the back. If in-between sizes, please select the size based on your dog’s weight range.

Is This Right for Your Pet?

The Walkin’ Hip-EEZ® Helps Pets of All Ages:
The Hip-EEZ® helps young puppies in the earliest stages of hip dysplasia up through older dogs dealing with arthritis, hip pain, and inflammation. This dog hip support harness is designed to decrease hip pain and promote mobility while helping to keep your pet comfortable and active.

The Hip-EEZ® will not help pets that cannot stand on their own and cannot bear any weight on their hind legs. These dogs may need the additional support of a dog wheelchair. Please speak with your veterinarian to determine the best treatment plan for your pet.

What to Expect:
It’s important to remember the initial fitting of the Walkin’ Hip-EEZ will take some time. Some pets will take right away to this kind of dog hip support harness and others may take more time to adjust. A slow acclimation to wearing the Hip-EEZ is important. It may take some pets 2-4 weeks to completely be adjusted to walk and run when wearing the Hip-EEZ. That’s completely normal for a full hip mobility device. Wearing the hip brace will help relieve your pet’s hip pain right away, but it may take a few weeks wearing the Hip-EEZ before you see noticeable physical or gait changes. We recommend using positive reinforcement (including treats and praise) to encourage your dog to walk and move while wearing our dog hip support harness. For Best Results:
To promote healing and see visible changes in your dog’s movement, wearing the Hip-EEZ® is only one piece of your dog’s treatment plan. If your pet is suffering from any conditions affecting the hip joints which cause pain or change in mobility, working with your Veterinarian on a multi-step treatment plan will always have the best outcome. Your Veterinarian may recommend joint supplements, pain management plan, structured exercise or even seeing a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. Using our dog hip support harness to promote continued comfortable mobility along with the items listed above will allow your pet the best outcome. Discuss what plan works best for your pet with your Veterinary Professional today.

Product Instructions

  1. Make sure your Hip-EEZ® Full Support System is adjusted to best fit your pet.
  2. Gently undo touch fastener at top of leg panel on the side you’re planning on using the Hip Bridge. With the Velcro facing out, line up the Hip Bridge directly over the top of the bony part of the hip. When placed correctly the bony part (Femoral head) should be resting in the open space of bridge. Hold the bridge in place with one hand while reattaching the Hip-EEZ® leg panel. Remove hand and gently press on outer leg panel around bridge to make sure its securely in place.
  3. Now your Hip Bridge should be in place over the joint if you need to reposition the bridge, take your time and set it correctly. We recommend checking it often if pet is active or gets up after laying on that side. The goal is to allow your pet to move around with the bridge staying in place to offer support and compression.

How long can my pet wear their Hip-EEZ® and Hip Bridge?

Your pet can wear the Hip Bridge while walking, running, sitting, and laying down. However, it is mainly designed to be used while your pet is participating in a Rehabilitation treatment plan and during walks. You should consult your veterinarian before use. Then remove for a couple of hours allowing the skin to breathe before replacing on pet.

How do I care for the Hip Bridge?

Spot clean the Hip Bridge with a damp cloth or sponge as needed and lay flat to air dry. Machine washing is not recommended and may affect the stability of the product. To remove hair from foam and touch fastener, we recommend using a lint roller.

Can my pet go to the bathroom while wearing the Hip Bridge?

Yes, your pet can go potty with the Hip Bridge on. There should be no interference with urination and pooping.

My dog already has a Hip-EEZ® can I buy just the Hip Bridge?

Yes, the Hip Bridge can be purchased separately. If your pet needs only the Hip Bridge or a second bridge, please visit here.

Professional Use

The Hip-EEZ® Bridge is specially designed to aid in the conservative treatment of mild to moderate Hip Sub-Luxation. This product was designed specifically for those pets who may be suffering from multiple deficits and/or not good surgical candidates. The idea of the Hip-EEZ® Bridge is it compresses down and in on the Femoral head when placed correctly and the leg panel is secured tightly. This compression along with a specific Rehabilitation program ideally will allow muscle strengthening and recovery while keeping the hip from sub-luxating. This concept will take months of strengthening exercises while wearing the Hip-EEZ® Bridge. Of course, this will not work for all cases and in the situation of a full Hip Luxation. It’s not a replacement to surgery for those pets who would benefit from a surgical procedure. The Hip-EEZ® Bridge is a possible solution for those pets we see who surgery is not a viable option.

I’ve successfully used the Hip-EEZ® Bridge in a few cases and wanted to share a product I handmade the first go-round to help a patient named Nuka. I’m hoping to continue to collect data and feedback from other professionals. Working together as a Veterinary community to create, provide and improve products that aid in healing our patients. I can only hope these products are able to help your patients as well. Please reach out to us and share your thoughts and help us continue to collect more case studies on using the Hip-EEZ® Bridge with the Hip-EEZ® systems. We want your help in making sure our products meet the needs and approval of our fellow pet lovers.
