How to Cast a Dog’s Leg
For best results have your veterinarian or trained pet professional cast your dog’s limb. The process to cast a dog’s leg for a custom brace is very similar regardless of which leg you need to make an impression of. Watch the video below for step-by-step instructions on how to cast your pet for a brace.
A pet’s cast should be taken with them lying on their side with their leg in a natural, weight-bearing position. The cast should encompass as much of the limb as possible, including high into the groin or armpit and down to the paw. A too short cast or a poorly made cast will be rejected by the CPO to avoid the fabrication of a brace that will not fit or function properly.
