From Paralyzed to Playtime: Dog in Wheels Searching for A Forever Home

FRANKLIN, TN (May 24, 2023): Sealy is an 18-month-old Elkhound who is now back on her feet and making amazing strides since becoming immobile after a traumatic injury at just 3 weeks old. Critter Cavalry Rescue (CCR) in Tennessee rescued and took Sealy to a nearby vet where it was determined that she had suffered a severe brain injury from the accident. Sealy was left with a neurological condition, that affects her motor skills – making it very difficult for her to stand up and get around on her own.
Candace, a member of CCR, says, “She’s strong-willed. She’s never known any different and does not feel sorry for herself. She relies on sense of touch, is stubborn and resilient, and I am so grateful for her. My purpose in life is to help those who cannot help themselves, especially those like Sealy.”
The rescue wanted to help Sealy in any way they could – so they reached out to Walkin’ Pets, a pet mobility company, for assistance. The team at Walkin’ Pets knew a full support dog wheelchair would be the perfect solution to help Sealy get back on her feet, so they donated one to her care so that she could live a life of freedom and independence.
Now at 2 months old, Sealy is now being fostered by Audrey, a physical therapist. When asked how Sealy is doing with her new wheelchair, Audrey responded, “The wheelchair has been a game-changer for her. She gets excited when I pull it out – she really loves it! She looks at it and just wants to get in it. You can just see it in her face.”
Now that Sealy is set up for success, Audrey is looking for someone who can provide the necessary care she needs to live a fulfilling life. Sealy is total care – so the rescue is looking for someone who can give her round-the-clock care, undivided attention, and unconditional love.
Audrey says, “We’re looking for that right person to give her the time, attention, and practice she needs. She loves to be loved on and has a lot of love to give.”
