Paralyzed Kitten & Sibling Find Forever Home

HATFIELD, MA (July 27, 2022): Nutmeg is a 7-month-old paralyzed kitten who was rescued by A Kitten Place down in Brandon, Florida, along with his sibling, Sage. Nutmeg was found injured at just a few weeks old, resulting in the paralysis of his rear legs. Unable to walk, Nutmeg was forced to drag himself around by his two front legs.
A Kitten Place wanted to provide Nutmeg with the help he needed to live a more active, independent lifestyle – so the rescue reached out to Walkin’ Pets, a company that provides wheelchairs and other mobility aids for aging, injured, and disabled animals.
When Walkin’ Pets learned of Nutmeg’s situation, they were happy to donate him a rear wheelchair to help get him back on his feet, as well as connect him with a Massachusetts couple who was interested in adopting and providing them with a loving home – together!
A Kitten Place flew Nutmeg and Sage all the way from Florida to Massachusetts, where they were able to meet their new family for the first time. Shortly after, Walkin’ Pets drove down to Hatfield to donate the wheelchair to Nutmeg, and watch him take his very first steps, independently!
“The wheelchair will help him have function in his back legs, give him support while standing, and allow him to walk around with ease. He is already getting acclimated and adjusted to the chair, and I think this is going to be a great journey for him! The Vets are optimistic that with the help of the wheels, laser therapy, and acupuncture – Nutmeg will one day regain his mobility back!” – Sam, Nutmeg’s owner.
