Home to 450 Dogs, & 25 Special Needs Dogs on Wheels!
TANGIER, MOROCCO (September 30, 2022): SFT Animal Sanctuary in Tangier, Morocco, is home to over 450 rescue dogs, including 25 special needs dogs in wheelchairs. The sanctuary has helped over 3,200 strays since beginning their journey in 2012, assisting with education on animal welfare, behavior, dog bites, and rabies. Additionally, the SFT team vaccinates, neuters, and tags street dogs.
Sally, the Founder of SFT, had always dreamt of transforming how her country treated animals, ever since she was a young girl. Years later, she turned that dream into reality, and Sally has since become a “Hero” to Morocco and many other countries worldwide. She sets the standard and is a true example of how animals should be treated – regardless of their condition or past. Sally has always had a soft spot for dogs with special needs since rescuing her first paralyzed dog, Theo, seven years ago:
“Theo showed me he wanted to live, even though he was paralyzed from the waist down. When we got him his Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair, it was truly amazing seeing him running around, playing, and enjoying life again,” said Sally.
SFT entered Lucky Puppy, the sanctuary’s mascot, into an International Calendar Contest for special needs animals run by Walkin’ Pets. With hundreds of submissions, SFT was selected for the “Hero Award,” all thanks to their selflessness, compassion, and unconditional efforts for the rescue and special needs pets community.
Relying solely on donations and volunteer efforts, SFT welcomes donations of all kinds to continue its mission to rehome, adopt, treat, and feed the hundreds of dogs they help yearly.
