DUXBURY, MA (March 15, 2021) – Abandoned by her mother, unable to stand, and highly malnourished, Kiki, the lamb, has struggled her entire life. Unable to get the nourishment she needed from her mother, Kiki’s growth was stunted, too weak even to try to stand, her legs became contracted, giving her even poorer odds of survival. Luckily, Meghan King, a Don’t Forget Us PET Us Sanctuary board member, stepped in to provide 11-day old Kiki a second chance.
Now at 3 ½ months old, Kiki has spent most of her life lying down on one side of her body. Only able to move when she’s carried by one of her rescuers. NH-based pet mobility company, Walkin’ Pets, heard about Kiki. They knew they could help. The Walkin’ Pets team drove to the sanctuary to gift Kiki her first-ever wheelchair. With the support of her 4-wheel Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair, Kiki is standing up for the first time! Meghan says, “The wheelchair is huge for us. We are so, so grateful for this opportunity from Walkin’ Pets.” Kiki’s new wheelchair will be used during her therapy sessions; the sanctuary hopes to work with the lamb to learn to walk on her own eventually!
