SWAMPSCOTT, MA (November 29, 2022) – Disabled dog, Gravity, has one wish for Christmas – to find a home for the Holidays. After two years in foster care, Gravity has received little-to-no interest, his foster mom, Lindsay LaRocca is determined to find him his happy ending.
Gravity was found in a yard in Tennessee as a pup, with a broken back, spinal cord laceration, and straight-leg syndrome – he was struggling to get around on his own. PAWS New England and All 4s Rescue League came to his rescue and transported him up to Massachusetts, where he has been receiving Physical Therapy and the care he needs to thrive as a special needs pup.
Lindsay says, “Gravity has been with me for two years, and I fully intend to see it through until he gets adopted. No matter how long that takes, we know that the perfect forever home is out there for him.”
Gravity’s knees are fused together, and he is paralyzed from the waist down – but surprisingly, he can STILL use his rear legs! To help keep his legs supported and protected, since he has no feeling, Gravity uses Adjustable Splints from Walkin’ Pets to stay mobile and independent.
“Gravity gets around really well with his braces. He likes to go for walks and go to the beach in them. He is super patient with me getting them on him, and they give him a lot more structure while walking,” says Lindsay.
The perfect home for Gravity would be someone who has enough time at home to tend to his special needs. Getting into a routine/schedule is key for pets who are incontinent and/or have other disabilities and need a little extra time and attention.
Pets with special needs often get overlooked at rescues/shelters and have a much harder time getting adopted than abled dogs. If someone could find it in their heart to welcome to resilient boy into their home this holiday season, that would be the greatest gift of all.
Gravity is “the best boy” and lives life to the fullest – despite his condition.
