Amherst, NH (April 23, 2019) – Sixteen-year-old Olivia Morello of New Boston, NH had been told by several Veterinarians that there was no hope for her beloved Saxony Duck, Elizabeth. Found a month earlier lying motionless in a puddle, Elizabeth suffered from torn tendons in her legs. Even though her Vet told her there was no hope, Olivia refused to give up.
Elizabeth showed all signs of being the same happy duck she always was, there were no signs of pain or stress. She was still the same loving duck that Olivia had raised since she was a duckling. Olivia refused to give up her feathered friend. Even though Olivia was responsible for all of pet’s medical bills, she was determined to visit as many Veterinarians as possible. Someone had to have a solution.
Taking matters into her own hands, Olivia began to research online. She was shocked when she came across a video online of Merlin the duck in his new Walkin’ Wheels duck wheelchair. She had no idea that duck wheelchairs existed! Olivia and her mom Danielle knew that Elizabeth needed a wheelchair, and brought Elizabeth to Walkin’ Pets in Amherst, NH for a fitting. Within the first five minutes of sitting in her new wheelchair, Elizabeth’s legs unlocked and slowly touched the ground. Elizabeth was standing on her own for the first time in a month! With the addition of her new duck wheelchair to her rehab therapy. For the first time since the injury, Olivia is hopeful and believes that Elizabeth will walk again on her own.
