AMHERST, NH (November 15, 2017) – Laura Webber, a customer service representative at Walkin’ Pets by HandicappedPets.com, took pity on a disabled 11-year-old Beagle/Pekingese mix named Oscar who was being given up by his owner, and is now fostering him. Oscar had surgery for IVDD a few months ago and is recovering with the use of a dog wheelchair while undergoing physical therapy to regain his strength. The previous owner was going to euthanize Oscar if she could not find him a new home. Laura was contacted by the owner’s dog walker to alert her of the situation, and Laura became Oscar’s savior.
At first Laura frantically called rescues to try to find a temporary home for Oscar, but time was of the essence, so she offered to take Oscar in to save his life. He traveled with his previous owner 225 miles to Laura’s home. Laura has fallen in love with Oscar, who has a sweet and loving temperament. He gets along well with her other dog Houston, who is a Pit Bull, as well as her two teenagers. Oscar’s physical therapist anticipates that he will no longer need his Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair after a period of exercise.
November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! Please help spread the word about Oscar to find him a permanent home, one where he will be loved and cherished forever.
