Lieutenant Dan, a Treeing Walker Coonhound and his family are ready to show the world how special he really is. This special pup is a double amputee, but he has never let that slow him down! Born with his hind legs and tail deformed, Lieutenant Dan has been walking on his front legs since he was 8-weeks old. At 6-months old his family made the difficult decision to amputate his back legs and later his tail. Now, Dan uses a Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair to help him run and play. Winning the coveted spot will give this special dog a chance to share his incredible story and show the world that a life on wheels can be amazing!
His family says that Lt. Dan or Lou, “has such an infectious joy for life. He is one of the happiest dogs I have ever owned or met! I swear he is always smiling.” Dan’s family is hoping that with Dan as the Cadbury Easter Bunny that people will see how incredible it can be to own a handicapped dog and how much love they have to share.
