AMHERST, NH (March 5, 2020) – Cadbury announced their top 10 finalists to be this year’s Cadbury Easter Bunny, and there is one very special dog in the running.
Lieutenant Dan, a Treeing Walker Coonhound is one special dog and people are taking notice. This special pup is a double amputee, but he has never let that slow him down! Born with his hind legs and tail deformed, Lieutenant Dan has been walking on his front legs since he was 8-weeks old. At 6-months old his family made the difficult decision to amputate his back legs and later his tail. Now, Dan uses a Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair to help him run and play. Winning the coveted spot will give this special dog a chance to share his incredible story and smile with the world.
His family says that Lt. Dan or Lou, “has such an infectious joy for life. He is one of the happiest dogs I have ever owned or met! I swear he is always smiling. Though owning a handicapable pet is not always easy, trust me it is extra work on our part, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You can’t be around him and not be smiling or laughing! And though it can be extra work, if you have it in you to provide the extra necessary care don’t give up on a pet just because they are different! You never know what they might add to your life!”
You can vote for Lieutenant Dan online once per day now through March 18th.
