AMHERST, NH (April 13, 2020) – Pitbull Effie’s life was changed forever when she got her first Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair. Her mom, Monica Brown says, “It’s hard to put into words how much the wheels mean to me. They have given Effie the gift of mobility and a very happy life!” Now, Effie and Monica are hoping to change the lives of other underdogs.
They are partnering with the charity Pinups for Pitbulls, to raise funds to help support their cause. The Pinups for Pitbulls organization educate and teaches others how to fight breed specific legislation which negatively impacts breeds like pitbulls. Effie is hoping to raise enough money to be featured on the charity’s calendar cover. By being chosen Effie hopes to increase awareness about the importance of adopting special needs pups and save other pitbulls in need.
Monica says, “As we work together to build a movement that is the norm, this movement includes all breeds and abilities. Just because Effie is on wheels doesn’t mean she’s immune to Breed Specific Legislation. Being able to partner with this organization to educate the community on breed bans and why they are not effective, means a lot. At the same time, we hope to educate others on how special needs dogs can be an amazing part of your family. And having the wheels allows us to do all things that other dogs can.” Monica truly believes that special needs dogs make incredibly pets. In addition to Effie, she also has a blind lab named Charlie and Sammy a deaf Pitbull, as well as opening her home to differently-abled foster dogs.
Watch Effie play with her deaf brother Sammy and her blind brother Charlie. These three siblings never let their disabilities stop them from having fun and living life to the fullest!
