Community in China Bands Together to Save Dog

CHENGDU, CHINA (May 18, 2020) –Year and half year-old puppy, Duoduo is lucky to be alive. Severely injured in a car accident, Duoduo had been left to die along the Guangyuan river in the middle of China. All that changed when a Chinese fireman was in the area and came across another little stray dog who was begging for food and led the fireman directly to Duoduo.

This news spread quickly to Chengdu, a big city 3 hours away from Guangyuan. Concern and support from the community grew, everyone wanted to help save Duoduo. Volunteers reached out to the fireman and coordinated their efforts to send Duoduo to Chengdu for much needed medical attention.

Once hospitalized, Duoduo underwent major spinal surgery as well as treatment for bedsores. As she healed, she received daily massage, rehabilitation, acupuncture, and tuina therapy. Slowly helping her to rebuild her strength and recover. Her veterinarians became her family, and surrounded by their love and kindness, Duoduo began to smile again. Her caretakers had one more wish for Duoduo, that she could walk again.

They bought two different types of wheelchairs for her, the first wheelchair was easily broken and would fall apart. The second wheelchair was perfect, her Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair helped Duoduo to move quickly and easily on her own. Now, back on her feet she can run, play, and get the exercise she so desperately needed. Duoduo’s Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair has improved her quality of life and allowing her to be happy and healthy. Duoduo’s doctors hope that by sharing her story other dogs in the world can receive the same level of care and compassion that changed Duoduo’s life.
