Yorkshire Terrier, Misty, is a spitfire and ball of energy. She may be disabled, but she won’t let anything slow her down.
Before being surrendered to the Animal Rescue League of NH in Bedford a few weeks ago, Misty’s life has been difficult.
Two years ago, Misty woke up unable to use her back legs. Living on a second floor, her elderly owner was unable to carry her up and down the stairs. Misty was kept isolated in a small area of her home. Her only way of getting around was to drag herself, leaving her scraped. Her owner knew she was unable to care for Misty and called the ARLNH.
When the ARLNH met Misty they knew they needed to get her walking as soon as possible and knew just the people to call. And Walkin’ Pets was all too happy to help. Driving to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire to fit Misty with her first ever Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair.
Misty instantly took to her new wheels. In fact, Misty was so happy to move that she was barely hooked in before she started zipping around the rescue. For the first time in almost two years, Misty started moving her back legs and tried to walk! The volunteers and staff at ARLNH were thrilled to see the joy in her face,
“There were a few tears in our eyes as we watched Misty be the dog she’s meant to be, and not held back by her uncooperative hind legs.”
Walkin’ Pets wasn’t done yet! Wanting to keep Misty always on the go, along with her new wheelchair, Misty was also gifted a scooter.
Now she can easily scoot around and explore inside when she’s not using her wheelchair. Misty no longer has to stay isolated in a small room, and she’s ready to start exploring! With her Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair and brand new Scooter, there is nothing holding her back from finding her new family!
Misty loves her new life on wheels and now there is nothing standing in the way of her finding a truly wonderful home. Misty will be available for adoption soon. The ARLNH is looking for a family with a big heart to give this special pup the love and care she deserves.
