Lieutenant Dan, a Treeing Walker Coonhound and his family are ready to show the world how special he really is. “Lou” is a double amputee, but he has never let that slow him down!

Lou was born with both his hind legs and tail deformed, but its never got in the way of him living his best life! Lieutenant Dan has been walking on his front legs since he was 8-weeks old. He was rescued at as a puppy by his family and has always been a happy and active pup. At 6-months old, due to medical concerns his family was forced to make the difficult decision to amputate his back legs and later his tail.

Lt. Dan Is All Smiles

Now, Lou uses a Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair to help him run and play with his puppy sisters. “He has such an infectious joy for life. He is one of the happiest dogs I have ever owned or met! I swear he is always smiling.”

With Lt. Dan as the Cadbury Easter Bunny, Lou’s family hopes people will see how incredible it can be to own a handicapped dog and that special needs pups have a lot of love to share.

Lieutenant Dan the Cadbury bunny

“Although, owning a handicapable pet is not always easy, trust me it is extra work on our part, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You can’t be around him and not be smiling or laughing! And though it can be extra work, if you have it in you to provide the extra necessary care don’t give up on a pet just because they are different! You never know what they might add to your life!”

The First Cabury Bunny Wheelchair

Lieutenant Dan is the first handicapable dog selected as the Cadbury bunny. Wheelchair dog’s all around the world are cheering on Lieutenant Dan as he takes his moment in the spotlight!
