Olivia (a goat) arrived at the sanctuary without being able to walk. We always tried to help her feel that she had a friend, but her schedule of being in her wheelchair and having to rest some hours a day made it very complicated. Goats and sheep don’t like to be separated from their friends, and our greatest fear was that Olivia felt lonely. There were several attempts, but her routine was so different that Olivia could never form a lasting friendship with any of the resident animals of the sanctuary.
However, when Diego (a sheep) started using his wheelchair outside, it all started to change. The two met and immediately understood that both of them were in the same situation. During their wheelchair hours, Diego and Olivia stay together and put their carts next to each other, and during the resting period they stay in their beds in the same room. And when they look at each other, they feel safe and rest for a while.
We are very happy that Olivia can finally have a best friend!
