Meet Nancy, our Wheelchair Expert

Nancy Bregger is the resident wheelchair expert at HandicappedPets.com. She’s been with the company almost two years. Her favorite part of the job is helping animals so that they don’t have to be euthanized. And she loves hearing back from customers who often call with amazing stories of how the wheelchair helped their dog. “I love to hear how their dog took off running and chasing other animals now—and just the enthusiasm in the owner’s voice—how it changed their dog’s life.” She looks forward to telling customers about Walkin’ Wheels because “they’ll be able to purchase one very quickly, without having to spend time figuring out measurements since it’s adjustable to any dog.” Nancy has her own canine companions—boxers Daisy, 4, and Buster, 2. What does a rear support harness do? A rear support harness allows you to provide the extra support an animal might need to help him (or her) walk. It’s like a piece of clothing that is worn by the dog, attached with clips and Velcro, with a handle. The design and construction of the harness provide the balance and support necessary for your dog to lead a happier, healthier, cleaner life. Use of the harness can also help minimize back strain that you may experience from lifting and carrying a heavy pet. When fitted properly, male and female dogs can urinate freely in the harness.

Do you know there is a National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS)? Founded in 1989, this nonprofit organization’s mission is to “provide tools and support to foster the success of members' businesses, to promote the value of pet sitting to the public, and to advocate for the welfare of animals.” NAPPS strives to promote excellence in pet sitting and guides pet sitters to run their businesses by the highest ethical standards, offering its membership ongoing professional development and providing educational resources for the pet owning public.
