A very touching example of this community of support is evident in the case of "Marley and Us" - a recent discussion featuring a 13-year old Chow that is recovering from surgery for intervertebral disc disease.

Follow Marley and his family on the road to recovery that includes physical therapy sessions with an underwater treadmill. Join in on this discussion, share your experiences and learn from other caretakers by becoming a member of the forum.

HandicappedPets Foundation Provides Mobility Equipment to Pets in Need

The Handicapped Pets Foundation recently teamed up with Kathy Barton and her fourth grade class in Velma, Oklahoma to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the "How do you teach compassion?" humane education program. The program uses handicapped pets to teach children about the importance of accepting differences in people and pets. Each year, the children host a variety of events such as bake sales, petting areas and pet parades to raise money for the purchase of wheelchairs for pets in need.

Among the candidates for wheelchairs this year are a cat named "Hugs" that was born without front legs, a dog named "Fandango" that has partial rear leg paralysis, a three-legged Labarador retriever named Sierra and a Boxer/Labrador mix named Niles.

If you would like to support the children's efforts, please reference "Kathy Barton's Fund" in the purpose line at our Make A Donation page. Thank you for your support and for truly making a difference in the lives of handicapped pets!

The Total Body Harness System provides all-in-one support for post operative situations and is also ideal for assisting older, arthritic dogs with tasks such as climbing stairs or entering and exiting an automobile.

Developed by experts in canine rehabilitation, the Total Body Harness is constructed of durable 600-denier nylon and fleece lined for maximum comfort. Quick release buckles and adjustable straps ensure a safe and convenient fit for your canine companion.

rear supportWe are in the process of developing a new back harness system for the Walkin' Wheels totally adjustable dog wheelchair. This harness system uses padded leg rings instead of the rear harness system. We are in the process of testing this new method. If you have a Walkin' Wheels and would like to be considered as a tester, please let us know.
