HandicappedPets Foundation Provides Mobility Equipment to Pets in Need
The Handicapped Pets Foundation recently teamed up with Kathy Barton and her fourth grade class in Velma, Oklahoma to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the "How do you teach compassion?" humane education program. The program uses handicapped pets to teach children about the importance of accepting differences in people and pets. Each year, the children host a variety of events such as bake sales, petting areas and pet parades to raise money for the purchase of wheelchairs for pets in need.
Among the candidates for wheelchairs this year are a cat named "Hugs" that was born without front legs, a dog named "Fandango" that has partial rear leg paralysis, a three-legged Labarador retriever named Sierra and a Boxer/Labrador mix named Niles.
If you would like to support the children's efforts, please reference "Kathy Barton's Fund" in the purpose line at our Make A Donation page. Thank you for your support and for truly making a difference in the lives of handicapped pets!
