Meow-Wear was founded and developed by Carla Reiss, a soft toy and doll costume designer with over twenty years experience in the toy and gift industries. More recently, Carla has designed canine apparel and soft toys for the pet products industry. The company was acquired by HandicappedPets.com in November 2011 in order to provide these, and other cat-related products to their customers.
She recognized a void in the market for quality cat apparel and other fabric-based products, and was encouraged to offer these items by cat owners, breeders and rescuers. Many cats enjoy the warmth and coziness of soft clothing and appreciate the interaction with their human companions.
It is our hope at Meow-Wear that using our products will strengthen the bond between you and your pet, and bring many smiles to your face!
Remember to supervise your cat when he or she is wearing Meow-Wear.

A message to those who oppose the dressing of animals:
We, at Meow-Wear love the animals in our lives. We treat them as family members and give them excellent veterinary care. We offer our products to you as a means to bond with your pet and train him or her to enjoy handling and expressions of affection.
Cats are food-driven animals and are quickly trained to accept collars and apparel by rewarding them with healthy treats. Much of our line is intended for special moments rather than habitual wear. These items are often purchased for use at special events, for holiday photography or for fun times.
No one is suggesting that any cat be dressed on a 24 / 7 basis!
Also, if your cat tires of any item, certainly remove it! Those that are designed for “special needs” are an exception; we have designed garments to protect animals from licking their incisions after abdominal surgery, to cover amputation sites, to prevent spraying in the home and to contain sanitary pads where incontinence is a problem.
Having worked for a veterinarian, Carla discovered that cats who are shaved down due to surgical procedure or to coat matting are comforted by a shirt (being chilly is a strange sensation), as are breeds with little to virtually no coat.
