Kodi is a 12.5 year-old Great Pyrenees who loves to be outdoors and loves to be around people and other dogs. In his earlier years, he was a friendly greeter volunteer at the Cleveland Clinic. About two years ago, Kodi was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. The effects were subtle at first, but gradually he lost his ability to walk more than a few steps without falling. Fortunately, I came across the Handicapped Pets website and learned about the “Walkin Wheels” cart.

It took a few weeks for him to get used to his new wheels…the first few practice sessions consisted of him standing in the driveway staring at me. I tried to be patient (even though I was so excited for him), offering treats for a few feet of motion.

Then one day he just started walking and then almost running down the driveway. I swear he was smiling! He is now eager to go on daily walks and is a social butterfly in the neighborhood. He has a lot of friends both human and canine. Once we are out in his wheels, he never wants to turn around to come home. He is so happy!

Kodi’s life has been transformed because of his wheels. We are so grateful for the advice and guidance that we received from the staff at Handicapped Pets. Thank you for a great piece of equipment. Kodi is up and about with a new sense of freedom and energy. He is definitely making the most of his senior years and enjoying himself and his favorite activities once again.
