Frame:

The frame is blue or pink powder-coated aluminum. It will not bend, break or rust. On each side of the frame are black knuckles which hold the leg of the cart to the frame. The black end cap will be facing up. The wheels/struts will be inserted into the leg and adjusted to the proper height. The knuckle has a high and low setting which can be adjusted with a Phillips screwdriver (see DVD instructions).

Extenders:

Your cart will come with two extenders (side rails) installed which determine the length of your dog. The length of the extender should end in the middle of the dog's front leg. It should not pass the front leg.  Note:  If the button is inside the black knuckle, use a pen tip to push it through to the next button position.

Connectors:

Your cart will come with a width connector already installed in the back of your cart. Adjust the width so there are 1” on each side of your dog's body and the black knuckle on the cart frame. If you need more width, the cart comes equipped with a longer connector in the box.

Wheels & Struts:

The wheels are attached to a metal piece called a “strut”. At the end of the strut, you will see a push button. The wheels should be inserted into the leg of the cart with the push button to determine the height.

Leg Rings:

This is the support system which holds the rear hind quarters off the ground by supporting the dog’s weight. The tubes are attached with a Velcro piece of material in the middle. The tubes should run parallel to the frame. Each end of the foam tube has a clip that locks into the frame over the silver peg.

The round clip goes over the frame and clips into the small slot on the black clip using your thumb to pull down. You will hear a click to know it is locked into position correctly. The leg rings should look flat like a seat. The dog’s legs will go through each loop.

Front Harness:

The front harness goes around the dog's neck and clips into the wheelchair. Unclip the red strap and let it hang down. Put your dog head between the two black straps. Take the red strap and put in under the dog's belly and clip into harness. Adjust the straps so they are all snug. The neoprene sleeves add comfort and holds the excess strapping. They can be cut in half if needed.

Stirrups:

Stirrups are used to hold the dog's legs off the ground so they don't drag due to paralysis, knuckling under, and injury to foot.  Make sure the stirrups are positioned to hold the foot up at the hock. If your dog doesn't need them, have the dogs pads touch the ground to push off. Your dog will use its front legs to steer the cart.

Belly Belt:

The belly belt will help support dogs with back injury, disc issues, long back, or overweight dogs. The belt attaches to the cart, goes under the belly and attaches to the other side of cart. This will be added after your dog is fitted to the cart. It is not always necessary to use the belly belt.

The Manual & DVD:

Optional Rear Harness:

This item can be purchased at an additional cost if you feel your dog needs more rear support. You will need to know the girth of ONE back leg to determine the size needed. You would either use the leg rings or the rear harness (but not both).
