Rear End Support Leash
The Bottoms Up (tm) Leash
|
|
A nylon, supportive rear end leash-harness designed to help animals with broken bones, arthritis, dysplasia, or any other skeletal or muscular problems. It allows the animal to perform bodily functions (urinate and defecate) unencumbered, while being supported by a person who lifts a portion of the animal's weight at a 90-degree angle from the top of the back, in front of the tail area. It works by taking the animal's weight off its hind legs. The animal will still go through the walking motion, but you will be supporting a portion of their weight.
Dogs MUST have both rear legs in order to use this product. This product is not recommended for rear leg amputees.

Because the straps have a clearance in design off of the animal's back, the pressure is distributed under the center of its hind legs. This gives the most complete support of the rear hips and upper rear legs. By lifting slightly on the leash, the pet owner can control the amount of weight that is being placed on the animal's hind legs. The animal will still be going through the walking motion and will still be applying pressure on its legs, so the leash acts as an effective therapeutic device.
This leash is adjustable in size and has been used for dogs as heavy as 90 lbs. and as small as a Dachshund's and Lhasa Apso's. For larger dogs (and small horses) over 90 lbs. use the Big Dog leash.

Hi, we have a 15 year old Lurcher who has a inoperable problem with his rear leg due mainly to his age, it was heartbreaking watching him struggle to walk, he could only manage a few steps before he fell. He now has a rear support leash and boy does he move!!! It has given him a new lease of life, a very BIG thank you.

Dear Mark,
I had been searching on the internet for some sort of brace, etc for our 13 yr old dog who is losing use of her one back leg. I was happened upon your site and I am glad that I did !!!! I checked out your RearEnd Support leash, ordered one and received it on Monday, Jan. 5. She adapted to it immediately !! We walked her in the house for a few minutes, but she made a bee-line for the back door to go outside!! This was like a picnic for her ............she started leading my husband down the street and just wanted to take a long awaited walk !!!
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. What a blessing this is. We don;t know at her age how much longer she has, and it was breaking our hearts not to be able to take her walking anymore..........something she has always loved to do. Freedom at last ! Sincerely, Tom & Bonnielynn Brankey |

You saved my dog's life!!!
I just wanted to tell you how wonderful your "Bottom's Up" leash is! My 15 year old Portuguese Water Dog, Arley, recently dislocated her hip. She had a procedure to put it back in joint, but the vet didn't think it had worked and said that she would probably never walk again, and that I should start thinking about my "options".
Then I saw your leash on the internet (a friend sent me the link) and I wasn't sure it would be safe for her hip, but I wanted to give it a try – it had to be better than the towel wrapped around her belly I had been using…or the other "option". I ordered it immediately, and was glad that it arrived so quickly! I was amazed how much easier it was to help her walk! It was so much easier on my arm, and so much easier for her to go to the bathroom! I've washed the pads a few times, and it's held up great.
Now it's 8 weeks later, and thanks to lots of exercise/therapy using your "Bottom's Up" leash she's walking around on her own! I still use it for those occasions when she needs a leash, when she is walking on uneven ground, or when she gets tired (after all, she is 15, and gets "wobbly" when she's tired). She can even run across the yard with it on (as long as I can keep up!). I don't know what we would have done without your wonderful product. It's made all the difference in the outcome of her injury, her recovery, and her quality of life! I would highly recommend your product to anyone who has a pet with hip, leg or back problems. I'm trying to encourage my vet to keep a few in stock for their patients who benefit from them.
Thank you so much for saving my Arley!
Sincerely,
Chris J.

"We are sending some photos as promised of our beloved Shepherd Cody. We just returned from a few days on Cape Cod and took some recent photos of Cody wearing your rear end support leash. We are so grateful to you for coming to our rescue - we find the vets here have not been helpful - they say there's nothing that could be done with his illness. Cody is a 13 years old and has so much personality and spunk. We are so sorry that you lost your dog - but it must be gratifying to help others. Your positive attitude is wonderful and has given us so much hope. We're getting used to the Bottom's Up Leash now and find it works best for us to hold it close to the body where we have more control. So, once again, thank you from the bottom's of our hearts."

"Got the leash today - it is exactly what we've been looking for! Our German shepherd is recovering from back surgery to repair a ruptured disk, and is just now starting to put weight on his hind legs and walk with some support from us. The walkabout harness I purchased though it did the job was an absolute ordeal to get him in an out of (he's 115 lbs of semi-paralyzed dog at the moment) and it kind of hindered his ability to walk naturally. This harness is breeze to put on, and because there's not a lot of material wrapped around his body he can walk more naturally. I noticed this difference the first time I used it with Boomer -- it was the longest walk we were able to take since the surgery. Thanks!"

"I can't tell you what a difference the leash makes. I was finally able to get Cody in and out of the house by myself... without him urinating on me or himself. You guys have a really excellent product. My vet is using a canvas wood carrier that's been modified a bit. It isn't nearly as effective as the leash. Have you marketed this at trade shows? There is such a great demand out there and I'm surprised at how many people are unaware the leash exists. Anyway, thanks for all of your help. Cody is going for acupuncture tomorrow for his ruptured disc. He has regained feeling in his legs, but just can't support himself. We're hoping for the best. You guys are lifesavers."

"From the minute I received my leash, my 12 year old Wheaton Terrier Max, has been running. My dog has Degenerative Myelopathy. His back legs have slowly become paralyzed. I am 5'1", my dog weighs 47lbs, and I could not get him around. I tried every product on the market, I spent triple the money on products. My male dog hated All of them, and urinated on them each time. This leash has saved my arms and back and given Max, a "New leash on Life!" He is only limited by how fast I can go! It gives him freedom to be a dog! I am not constantly, washing the leash and he gets in and out of it in seconds. I truly, do not know what I would do , without it. I am so thankful I found this leash, and I am always recommending it, to people who see us walking. All my vets have been amazed by this leash. I cannot say enough about it. Thank you!"

"Thank you for contacting me. I used the leash because my lab had degenerative disc disease in her lower back. Unfortunately, it got worse and she had to be put to sleep in March. Your product definitely gave us several months that we would not have had otherwise. Thank you very much. A member of the bouvier list I belong to mentioned your product. I saved his reference because of the age of our Bouvier (13+) and can now use it. I did review other similar products but was attracted to the rear ens support leash because: 1) it seats underneath the pelvis and not around the chest or waist and our dog (as I presume most other elderly dogs) needs hindquarter support, not total body support, 2) ease of on/off, and 3) the cost is quite reasonable especially considering that realistically, our dog is in the twilight of her life."

"Just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with our leash. We are able to take our dog, whom we may soon lose to cancer, on walks, which wouldn't be possible without the support we can give him with the leash. We are so pleased to be able to help him enjoy what may be his last days. We used the leash on a visit to our dog's surgeon. The vet was impressed with the leash's design and asked us to bring her ordering information so that she could pass it on to her other clients. She thought the leash was a great idea, and said that she much prefers supporting the dog at the hind legs rather than under the belly (the way we used to support our dog with a rolled-up towel). Thanks so much!"

"Seldom do I lobby for new products so you know this is a WONDERFUL product! I only wish it had been around during the last year of my little dog's life. Owners of senior pets and pets with arthritis and hip related conditions will be thrilled to know a product like this exists."

"Although I'm not in need of your leash (yet), I feel I must commend you for creating a product that could be a godsend to many folks. My springer is starting to develop arthritis in his hips. I don't think we are ready for the leash at this time, but I will certainly bookmark your website so I can return to it in the future. Thanks for such a great idea."

"The Bottoms Up Leash has given my arthritic Chow a new lease on life. He was unable to go on walks since he could not go but a few steps without collapsing and falling down due to the pain. Now he is proudly walking and enjoying life again since he has the leash. (At first he was reluctant to try it...but after the first walk with it he is now ready to go when he sees the leash.) He has regained his confidence. What a wonderful invention. Thanks. I have told several people about it for their older dogs."

"About a month ago my dog was struck by a car. My Vet and I tried using Meds on our dog and even acupuncture -- nothing seemed to work. We bought a leash and our dog is now walking on his own. We love our leash!"

"What a great idea! I've got a 14 yr old with terrible arthritis and strokes which have weakened his back-end. I was toying with the idea of a doggie wheelchair, but he's not really ready for that. We go on long walks and I was so afraid that someday he would not be able to get back. He weighs almost 60lbs, so I didn't look forward to carrying him. With this leash we can probably go back to the beach. I can always hook him up for the walk back up."
