Jade
(This picture is before baytril)
Hi my name is Jade. I am a 4 yr old male cat. I want to tell all the other moms and dads out there with cats. Please be careful giving your cat baytriel. A year ago I became ill with bladder stones. The kept giving me antibiotic Baytril off and on for 3 months. My parents tried to get the vet to understand what was happening. My eyes no longer dilate right. The official name is retinal degeneration. There is no fixing it or slowing it down after it has started. My moms are great though they have put night lights on for me. They help me get down when I sleep to long on my cat tower. They are doing everything they can for me. So if you can help us get the word out about this. We are not saying it’s not a good antibiotic but just before you give it to your cats, check and see if there’s an alterative and make sure that it’s given in the right dose. Please use an alterative if there is one. Going blind is not a death sentence but it’s scary and hard to deal with. I am lucky my mom is able to stay home with me just in case I need her. It would be horrible if she wasn’t here to help when I lose my bearings. In case you are wondering I am a main coon mix cat I am 25 lbs but I am not obese. My mom named after my eye color not that it can be seen anymore. But she still tells me how handsome I am. Remember no baytril.
Sincerely,
Jade
