Harness Review

Hi I just placed another order with handicappedpets.com. You guys have been a life saver for me and my dog Spur (see the gallery for pics). Last year he was diagnosed with an immune mediated poly neuropathy which hit him rather suddenly. After spending 2 weeks in the  ICU at Purdue University  it was decided to send him to a neurologist  in Northbrook IL where he was diagnosed with neurological problems. With the help of medication and rehabilitation we were able to get Spur walking /running and playing again Your products have made that possible seeing as he needed assistance walking. The back and front harnesses were a God send. I had  no idea a company made these types of products until the veterinarian who was giving Spur his physical therapy told me about HandicappedPets. com  Her name is Dr Kendall Clay and she is such a wonderful doctor and human being. Anyway Spur had a relapse of his problem just recently and seeing that he is 100 pounds of German Shepherd he is difficult for me to handle alone. The harnesses have helped us out beyond belief.. Thank you so much for all you do and the products you provide. Spur is my best friend and my baby. He means the world to me...Thank you ..again !

Sincerely

I can recommend what I consider the greatest company on earth. Harnesses have saved now three of my pets. My first, an elderly poodle who one day jumped off the bed and became paralyzed from a slipped disc. She had a dorsal laminectomy and was completely paralyzed for about a month. Cathy made me what we called a "uni-suit" that wrapped around Barfy's body (I know her name's a bit weird. she didn't have a barfing problem, I just thought the name was funny). And for all the time she couldn't walk, I could walk her with the suit on. It had handles like a purse, and she "walked" alongside me while I carried her weight. She recovered well, and lived several more years before dementia took her from me.

The second dog, Sophie, was a German Shepherd. The groomer dropped her in the tub and shattered the last disc in her back which left her rear end paralyzed. We got a harness, sort of like a pair of shorts with a long handle. And booties to protect her back feet so they wouldn't bleed. Both literally saved MY life. Sophie was huge to begin with so getting her around was no small task. But I could walk her easily with the harness (and my other three all at the same time).

And Sophie's "replacement" when we finally had to put her down, is Skye, another elderly German Shepherd who was severely abused by her previous owner and has a lot of residual nerve damage. She also has the booties and probably will progress to the harness at some point. I hope not, but this person really did a number on her muscles, joints, nerves, etc. And then for good measure he cut her vocal cords. What I wouldn't do for a few moments alone with this person, whoever he is......

Anyway, these products saved all our lives and Cathy Erwin will do anything to help any animal, anywhere, anytime.

I wanted to say thank you for your help with getting the sling out to Stormy who has suffered partial paralysis as the result of a stroke. Stormy is doing quite well - in fact, we've been told that he crawls over to his sling now to get his folks to take him out. He really seems to have figured out instantly how much it can help him, and it also allows one of his owners to take him outside, instead of both of them every time. Stormy is getting stronger by the day, and his vet thinks it's possible he'll have a full recovery. We can't thank you enough.

Hello Mark. We received the harness and it has suited our purposes perfectly.
we are both more mobile now and Kira does not whine or refuse the go up the
stairs. She has adjusted to it very quickly. You provide a valuable product
for which we greatly thank you.

I ordered the harness Wednesday. Thanks so much for the excellent service and speed with which we received the items. Maybe it's coincidental, but our JD seemed to take to it immediately and his appetite and attitude have improved a great deal. I do believe we are using it backwards, however since we put the v cut- away portion facing front. We tried the other way but it practically covers his penis. Don't suppose it matters much. It might be too large. Don't think will exchange it since it does the job. the bootie is a challenge since can't seem to secure it tight enough without fear of being too tight.

Again, thank you for your compassionate help...

Diane in Baltimore

Thanks for the note, Diane. Yes, due to the diverse size and shape of animals, the harness can be worn with the v-cut to the front or the back.
