John’s Ultimate Cart Instructions

Ultimate Cart 2 sized.JPG (174557 bytes)

Click for Larger

This cart design is proving to be useful for the larger dogs. John is large and all measurements are based on his 30-inch shoulder height. The obvious, and most profound difference is the tire size. This tall bike tire has no more weight than the conventional tires that are used today. Its size enables travel over terrain that previously produced danger of tipping, and increased the chances of further injury.

The tires narrowness enables resistance free turns, and allows much more freeness in the front-end of the animal.

Another major difference in design is the forward axle position, which alters the load weight. This cart has balance, which has never before been produced.

If you are interested in building a cart, and have questions about the design, messages can be posted on the message board -

at http://www.handicappedpets.com Or write to – Kid John by posting a message on our message board.

Instructions

Front View Instructions (Below)

A- The front yoke of the harness. A 12-inch piece of 2”wide steel strap, 1/16” thick. This strap is bent and formed to the shape of the dog’s back. It is a loose fit, as to allow ¾-inch of padding and then covered with sheepskin for comfort. (Side view instructions, describes yoke mounting.)

B- Ten-speed bicycle front fork, with a 27-inch racing tire.

F- Fork Stem, 2-inches tall. Welded to – C.

C- 1-inch Square tube. 5-1/4 inches long.

G- Cross over Stabilizer Rod. ½- inch round stock, 14-inches wide, with a 1-inch drop on each end.

E- Rear Stabilizer Wheel is a 5-inch stationary wheel. Mounted at the end of the 25- inch x ½-inch Stabilizer tube. The bottom of the wheel will maintain ground clearance of ½-inch.

D- 3/8- inch rod used as the Tie Rod for the stabilizer tube.

Side View (Below)

A- The Harness Yoke

E- To each side of the yoke, weld a 2-inch ring. These are the rings, that will hold the snaps of the harness.

B- From the back of the frame to the axle mounting is 13-inches.

D- 3/8-inch Stabilizer Tie Rods.

C- Rear Stabilizer Wheel.

F- ½-inch, yoke mounting rod. This rod is welded in the center of the cross over stabilizer rod, and is 11-inches long, to a 90 degree bend. Then 3-inches to the center of the yoke, there it is welded. Once the yoke mounting is welded in the center of the yoke, it is then covered with padding and sheepskin…

G- Frame Rail – 5/8-inch tube 15-inches wide and 21-inches long. The frame rail is bent into a U shape. John’s Cart instructions, has it drawn out for a closer view.
