Hi
my name is Bailey. I met my daddy 5 yrs ago when I was just a pup. I
have always enjoyed his love and affection for me especially when we
would play ball together. I just love to chase the tennis ball around
the house. One evening about 4 months ago i was having some pain in
my back legs I thought I may have just pulled a muscle but when I woke
up the next morning I had lost the use of my back legs. I was devistated
and by the look in my dad's eyes he was just crushed. He took me to
the vet and after being asessed I found out that I was strickin with
Fibrocartilaginous Emboli. The Dr. told my dad that there were only
two options: he could either take me home knowing that I would probably
never walk again or euthanize me. My dad told the Dr. that euthanasia
was not an option he could not let me go so he got me a cart and I am
just as happy as can be. I still love to play with my tennis ball and
I can't wait till my dad gets home from work cause than he takes me
out for walks.
I love you, Dad.
The chair is great it has made
life so much easier.
When Bailey first came down with
this I was using a towel as a sling around his belly to walk him around so
he wouldn't get depressed.
As far as buying it, I work for
the Albemarle SPCA in Charlottesville, Virginia. The vet I deal with is Dr.
William Hay. He and the Shelter Manager, Beth Mcphee worked together to find
an inexpensive solution.. About a week later he told us that the Tracey Web
Foundation was going to totally fund the price of a cart.
I had to agree to get Bailey all
the required shots and provide for any any other tests the vet might require.
Dr. Hay measured Bailey and ordered
of the cart from Doggon Wheels at a cost of $517.00. The fitting, before ordering
the cart, was critical and we needed exact measurements for height, weight,
chest, legs, length.
Bailey and I are so grateful to
Dr. Hay, Beth Mcphee, and the Tracey Web foundation. WIthout them I would
still be walking Bailey with a towel.
